Roger Bongolomba has always liked creating things such as toys and tools. As a child, he learnt his carving skills from his father. Roger moved to Cape Town and used to sell his carvings on the streets of Milnerton, and then was given an opportunity to sell his carvings over weekends at the Waterfront. They are mostly small and brightly painted figurines. These proved so popular, that he was given a permanent stall space in the Watershed, where he can now be found seven days a week.
