The Bambanani Bowl or Ubuntu Bowl is the signature product of Zizamele Ceramics. This “Friendship Bowl” is hand-made and hand-painted after being thrown on a pottery wheel. It is decorated with a number of clay figures around the rim of the bowl. These bowls are available in a number of different sizes, with different glaze finishes and colours. The candlesticks and vases in stock also range in size from very small to extra tall and they are also available in brilliant colours or plain white. Zizamele Ceramics has a range of functional items such as salad bowls, creamers, sugar bowls and mugs which are painted in their characteristic vibrant colours and patterns. The creators of these products are local (previously unemployed) women who were trained by former ceramics lecturer Toni Burton, who started Zizamele Cermics in 2008.
